About Me

Though born and raised in Houston, I spent nearly a decade growing a production editorial career at major publishers in New York City before chasing a longtime dream of relocating to Chicago in May 2016. It was here in Chicago that I made the switch to becoming a full-time freelance copy editor, proofreader, and production editor.
As an undergraduate at New York University, I had the advantage of being able to participate in publishing internships during the full academic year rather than solely summers. During my time as a college student, I was an intern at Scholastic, Penguin Group (now Penguin Random House), Routledge, and McGraw-Hill.
After graduating from NYU, I went on to hold positions within managing editorial, production, and copyediting departments at Penguin Group, Macmillan, and Simon & Schuster, respectively. During this time, I also began taking freelance copyediting and proofreading projects from fellow production editors at New York’s Big Five publishing houses (Hachette, HarperCollins, Macmillan, Penguin Random House, and Simon & Schuster). My client base has since expanded to include the likes of Amazon Publishing, Insight Editions, Kirkus Media, Open Road Integrated Media, and the Natural Resources Defense Council, among others.
In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, cooking and baking, and watching stand-up comedy. Additionally, I am an avid runner; I regularly compete in events ranging from the mile to the marathon. I also observe and document what Chicagoans are reading for my city’s chapter of CoverSpy and have been involved in organizing and guiding events for Read & Run Chicago.
